NBC Today Show “Little Girl, Big Voice”
NBC Today Show - “Little Girl, Big Voice” Annisse Murillo
“Annisse may look small and even seem a little bit shy, but don't be fooled. When she was just four years old, a life-changing discovery helped her to conquer her fears. Now she and her mother face life struggles with their secret weapon, a strong will, and a powerful voice.
My name is Annisse. I'm 10 years old and I love to sing gospel music. I started singing gospel music when. I was four. I started in church. That's when I realized that I had a gift.
As a pastor, I'm extremely proud of Annisse. She takes it very seriously. She's very reflective.
It was her pastor, Reverend Edward Turner, who referred her to the Children of the Gospel Vocal Workshop, which takes promising young artists like Annisse and teaches them to refine their musical talents.
Among the 200 kids attending the workshop, Annisse and her big voice made an impression.
It's not just the beautiful voice, but it's the meaning that she adds to it. That makes all the difference with her.
I think that people really listen to me because I'm young. I'm small, and when they hear my big voice come out. They're like, whoa!
Annisse’s family could not be more proud of her.
As a single parent. Her mom has found strength in watching Annisse and her talent grow with time.
That's my baby girl. She's everything to. She's my inspiration. I want her to fulfill her dreams.I just wanna be there for her.
My mom, she really knows how to show she's proud, and that's something that keeps me up and doesn't bring me down.
Annisse offers this advice to other kids following their dreams. Do what you're inspired to do. It doesn't matter how little or how big you are. If you're doing what you love to do, then you're good.
Here she is, 10 year old, Annisse Murillo, and Stanley Thurston from the Children of the Gospel. Annisse really quickly, you have such a strong voice, but more importantly, you've got such great self-confidence.”
